Travel Info Moving to Colorado from CA, what do you think of these cities: Golden, Louisville, Longmont, Arvada, Stapelton Travel Tips Golden is a nice town a little isolated from the metro area by hills. Lower key, mix of old housing and new, middle class, few really rich people live there. My first choice if you're tired of the big city life. Louisville has an old center, but is mostly new and generic suburban development. Not much there. Longmont is similar to Louisville, but has more stuff and is a bit farther out.. Arvada is a metro suburb with a lot to offer. Good mix of housing, progressive city government, lots of nice parks and trails. Convenient to the city and to the mountains for recreation/weekends. My first choice from your list. Stapleton is a New Urbanism development. Looks cute, effort has been made to mix housing, shopping, and some business together in a good way. Like all such, you pay for it in housing prices that are maybe 25% higher. Coming from CA they'll still look very cheap. Everything is brand new, although some is styled in an old fashioned way. Others I grew up in Louisville! Its awesome, there's tons of jobs, you can go to a fun bar scene or night life not far from Boulder or Denver and everyone is really nice. Golden is pretty nice too. I wouldn't suggest Longmont, Arvada or Stapelton. Good luck! All five communities are excellent places in which to live. I've lived in Golden and Arvada, and I visit all five on a regular basis. Golden is the county seat of Jefferson County and has a population of 17,159. Golden is the home of Colorado School of Mines and the Coors Brewery, the largest brewery in the Western Hemisphere. Golden manages to maintain a small Western town feel despite being just 11 miles west of the state capitol in Denver. Louisville (pronounced Lewisville) is a town of 18,937 located between Boulder and Denver. Louisville started life as a coal mining town populated with Italian immigrants. Today Louisville is a suburban community and part of the Boulder County high-tech corridor. Longmont is a town of 76,181 northeast of Boulder. Longmont is a former farming community that is now part of the Boulder County high-tech corridor. Longmont manages to maintain its own independent character despite its proximity to the Denver metropolitan area. Arvada is a town of 102,153 seven miles northwest of Denver. Arvada is a pleasant suburban community. Stapleton is a new urban community being constructed at the site of the former Stapleton International Airport in Denver. Stapleton is designed with new urban concepts and has many attractive amenities. I think most families would be very happy in any one of these five communities. Each has its own ambiance. PS - We love Californians. Just don't tell us how much you sold your house in California for. Golden at http://ci.golden.co.us/ Louisville at http://www.ci.louisville.co.us/... Longmont at http://www.ci.longmont.co.us/ Arvada at http://www.arvada.org/ Stapleton at http://www.stapletondenver.com/main.asp... Their hot beds of hatred toward Californians. I'd suggest someplace a little more friendly... like Oregon. out of those i'd move to Louisville or Golden. the rest are sort of ghetto. stapelton is where they had the old airport, longmont is sort of too far north arvada is ok but not great Lousiville is at the north end of denver between broomfield and boulder. IT is GORGEOUS!!! i would totally live there. they hav a great shopping center a few miles away in broomfield and boulder has a ton of great resturants as well as outdoor activities. golden is also beautufil and fun i'd pick louisville. |
