Travel Info I am stuck in NY trying to get back to denver airport which is closed.flights full till xmas day.Suggestions? Travel Tips Nobody is getting in or out until AT LEAST Thursday evening. Don't try to drive here. The roads are AWFUL!!! The interstate are all closed. You're best bet is to wait until you can get a flight and sit tight until then! Others bus, train, rent a car. Or just stick it out...good luck Probably try to enjoy your stay in NY, I'am watching the weather in the rocky mountain plains area and they have been hit hard, 12 to 30 inches of snow and blowing at that..but they recover fast there and no how to handle it, but if you cannot get a flight maybe head south and enjoy warmer weather, cause you know this storm will hit the mid west and east next.. Try Colorado Springs and then driving up to Denver. Its only two hours. Another alternative that the airlines hate is to book a flight to another destination that goes through Denver. Then just don't take the second leg. This only works if you are going one-way though as they will cancel your return trip if you don't go all the way through. And they call it "illegal" but I am not sure their justification. Lived in Denver Hmm, that's a tough one. The roads are *BAD* here right now and I don't think the snow will let up until the middle of the day on Thursday. I'd suggest Amtrak, but as this storm moves East, it might cause you to get stuck somewhere and I'll bet that everyone else who can't get into Denver from NYC is considering the same. If you are a student, perhaps you can find a board that posts students willing to give a ride to someone going their way. Good Luck. It's probably better to be in NY rather than Denver right now. Fly to Kansas City, MO and drive 500 miles to Denver. That's about the closest city. It's a long drive across Kansas, but it's wide open. Salt Lake City etc... is farther. Albuquerque is about 400 miles but probably wouldn't have a direct flight. |
