Would you recommend visiting vail, co in the middle of May for a honeymoon? |
Travel Info I'm trying to plan a honeymoon for vail in may and was wondering what the weather is like? Are there things to do? thank you Travel Tips I absolutely love Vail, but it's hard to predict what the weather would be like in May. It is considered the off season, the time between spring break skiing and Memorial Day when the tourists come back for summer activities, and could potentially be pretty dead- depending on how the winter season went and snowfall. I have been there around that time and found a lot of the shops and restaurants closed for the off-season. It will still be cool, and there may even still be snow on the ground. Things to do, walk the shops in town, go hiking. Just be prepared, like I said, there still may be snow. You should contact the visitor's center and ask them if there are any festivals in May. Those are great fun. But you can't count on the weather so bring it all from snow pants to bikinis!! May isn't the best time to visit. It's mud season, meaning it might be sunny and it might be snowy. Regardless it won't be super warm yet (60s at most). Vail is great if you like to do a lot outdoors. However in May the ski resorts will be closed and summer activities won't be starting yet. This is why it is very cheap to book in May. Vail is not as upscale as it used to be (you will find more t shirts than upscale boutiques in some areas). There are lots of good restaurants. You will encounterl restaraunts and stores that will be closed for mud season or undergoing reservations. I would not recommend Vail in May, but wait a month and it will be gorgeous Most of the snow has melted by then, but there is too much snow and mud to hike. I love Vail, but I wouldn't go there in May. Go to Hawaii in May, visit Vail in February, March, or April |
