I鈥檓 taking a trip to Denver, Colorado in early January 2007. Any suggestions on where I should go at night? |
Travel Info I鈥檓 looking for information on clubs similar to Crobar that play hip hop/house music or areas that contain numerous bars/clubs, silimlar to where the cast of the Real World hangs out. Also, does anyone have any good shopping areas suggestions or trendy stores I should check out? Travel Tips There are a ton of things to do in Denver, and I agree that the first review was a bit harsh. Granted, Denver is no NYC, but that doesn't mean we don't know how to have fun per capita of our population. A new club is opening called the Sutra Room and it should be hopping. It opens on the 29th and starts at 8 PM and states on the website that it goes until much later. Then there are some clubs like Corridor 44, Slim 7, and many more. Lodo is a great area, but there are also some across the city. You also might want to check out the Golden Triangle area with the Church, the Shelter and others. For shopping, that would be Cherry Creek but I not the mall side or a number of great shops scattered around the city. Again, lodo has some good ones but they can be a bit price. Broadway starts to have some stuff too. Do it this way, go out and meet some folks and then ask them over drinks what to hit in town. Best way. Just ask someone who has your taste. Source(s): http://www.theurbanbrain.com/wiki/... Other Travel Tips Cherry Creek is the place to shop. It's a little east of downtown and it's got a mall and an pedestrian mall that's pretty upscale. If you're willing to drive about 30 minutes south of downtown to the suburbs there's a really good mall, Park Meadows, which is right off I-25. Lots of shops. As far as nightlife... If you're looking for a really "slamming" nightlife scene I have no idea why you're looking at Denver. If New York is the city that never sleeps then Denver is the city that needs a good eight hours. You may find some clubbing stuff in Lodo--between Larimer and Blake and 20th and Speer--but that's only on Fridays and Saturdays and it's mostly dweeby college kids from Boulder. This is really more of a family kind of place. If you're into parks and zoos and football then you'll have a lot more to do. Frankly, I have no clue why the Real World chose Denver. If they made Denver look hip then they really fooled you. It's kind of like having an NRA convention in Boston. Some things just don't go together, and Denver and nightlife are one of them. native denverite well lodo is definitly the place to check out. Its nothing great but there are quite a few clubs and bars. the real world house is on blake street and all of the places they went to at night are in lodo. I dont think it is as bad as the person above me described it. I guess it kinda depends what you are used to. if you are coming form nyc, then denver is not going to have anything you have not already seen but i bet you will find a place or two that play decent music (although denver is not huge on the hip hip. rock or pop seems more popular in most bars) but just go with no expectations, try to make the most of it, and you might find something you like. |
