Accent in south Colorado, is it southern? How about north Colorado? |
Travel Info Accent in south Colorado, is it southern? How about north Colorado? Travel Tips I live in Northern Colorado and I have no accent. I heard once that TV and Radio people are trained to talk like they are from Colorado, because we have the least accent of anywhere in the US. Others people in colorado dont have an accent... i should know cuz i live there I was in Alberta, Canada and a waitress asked me if I was from the South. Being from Southern Colorado I know there is definitely a difference in speech from the northern parts of the state but not like a southern drawl. It's more of a western thing, I think. Kind of a slower, less enunciative sound. I had a friend from Georgia who said he was glad when Jimmy Carter was voted in as president because it was the first president we'd had who didn't have an accent. are you serious? the "south" is georgia, mississippi, alabama, virginia, etc. colorado is out west. no southern accent there. and the state isn't big enough to have a difference between northern colorado and southern colorado. Yes colorado people have a slight accent (depending on where in colorado). I grew up in se colorado and when I moved to Phx got made fun of alot because of words I said. Specifically the words "bag, flag, wagon" etc as I say them with a long a instead of a short. That can be construed as a northern accent as well. I was also told that they could tell I was from the country as I said "somethin" and "nothin" etc alot, but have NEVER been told it was a "southern" accent. Only a slight northern or country accent. I am told it's not thick and only shows up in a few words and when I'm tired. the accents are the same |
