Snow Storm in Colorado? |
Travel Info My husband has had to drive through Denver on I-70 going West to get to a new job and he is stuck in the snow storm right now. He is on the West side of Denver heading towards Vail. He is headed to North Eastern Utah. If he doesnt make it by tomorrow morning he probably wont get the job that they are holding for him! Im so worried about him and the job. Do you think he will make it? Does anyone know at what point he will be safe, out of the storm and back into decent weather? Im just very worried about him. We dont live anywhere near where it snows, so I dont know much about it. Travel Tips Once he gets past Vail Pass and Eienhower Tunnel he should be fine. The Western slope, which is where I live (about 30 miles from the Utah border) has a little snow on the ground but the roads are clear and it's actually not that cold right now. The only problem he might run in to is that the passes I mentioned above might have been closed when he got/gets to them. Right now the conditions aren't the greatest but it doesn't look like they've closed the roads yet. I would recommend checking the sites listed below for more info and try calling him tomorrow sometime to find out if he made it ok. Source(s): http://www.dickgilbert.com/vailpasscam.h... (shows current conditions of Vail Pass with time stamp) http://www.dickgilbert.com/wethroad.htm... (has links for weather conditions and road closings) http://www.cotrip.org/rweather/one_regio... (info on road conditions for I-70 from Denver to Utah) Other Travel Tips I just got an email from a friend in Denver. he said it's coming down bad. They are expecting another foot. Hopefully it lets up soon. Well, on the news they said it wouldn't be as bad as the last one. Just be careful going over the passes. Loveland and Vail pass.It can get REAL cruddy on there. Then if he takes higway 6 (Bryce Canyon?) to Salt Lake that can be really cruddy too, but less lkely a bunch of snow in there. Just really hairy, dark curves. He should take traction devices, blakets, beef jerkey, and a charged cell phone. Might be better to stop for th night and try to drive in the daylight. It's a tough drive in bad weather. This is predominantly a Front Range/Eastern Plains storm. He's going to be stuck on I-70 just west of Denver for a long time but he'll make it. The stuff you're seeing on the TV about the "Colorado Storm" is actually mainly a "Front Range storm." By the time he's in Vail it may very well be barely snowing. Here's how you do it: Both hands steadily on the wheel and NEVER COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. Don't worry I'm sure he'll be fine. We've got very good road crews here. |
