Cold weather gear for Females...? |
Travel Info My gf gets extremely cold, and we're going to jackson Hole in two weeks. Her biggest issues are her nose, hands, and head. Any recommendations for gear that actually WORKS especially for her nose and hands? She's a size 2 petite if that makes a difference...Thanks! Travel Tips Ahhh fashion or comfort.... the girl's dilema... Good advice already... Head - This is the most important place to get right.. Helmet... whoa I had no idea how warm these things were... I finally got one last year and I must say the thing was almost to hot to wear... Up to 55% of your body heat can be lost through your head. so if you keep it warm, the rest is easier. My wife usually complains about the cold, but once we got the helmets I cannot recall her complaining about being cold..... Nose: They make some neaporene face masks, and balaclavas as well that fit over the face... My wife would never wear one, but those are options too.... My wife prefers to use a neck warmer and just pull it up to her nose if it gets cold... Hands: Wear two glove layers.. Wear an inner thin glove liner and a good high quality glove. this should take care of her hands. I am not a fan of the hand warmers, but some people swear by them, so that is an option as well.... Others There are a lot of mittens and gloves that are really well insulated. You can also wear two pairs-- that's what i do. As for the nose issue, that's kinda difficult, but if you really don't want it cold you can get a neck warmer (it looks like a big head-band) and you just pull it over the bottom of your face, covering your nose. Have you tried the hand warmer packets? They are a couple bucks at REI. They also have great hats, gloves and balaclavas. Also, the warmer you keep your torso, the warmer your extremities. A good down vest works wonders. theres these gloves you can get that are really thick and you blow into a hole in them and it distributes warm air to your hands in the gloves. WEAR LOTS OF LAYERS. helmets are not only safe but they are extremely warm if you get the right ones. (ski helmets.) toe and hand warmers...face muffs, under armor under your clothes, fluffy ski socks, wear a fleece under your jacket, thats all i can think of...hope it helps First.......put a hat on! That is the biggest source of heat loss in the body. Make sure that her mittens are dry....use the hand dryer in the ladies room to warm them up if not. Check www.lucy.com for some cute stuff that she can wear off the slopes. |
