What are the best neighborhoods to live in in the Denver metro area? |
Travel Info I'd like a neighborhood that is nice, safe, reasonable rent, etc. Travel Tips Thornton and Northglenn. Others good. safe. cheap pick any two. You pay for what you get. In my experience, bets bang for your buck is in the C470 and Santa Fe area, south of there. newer houses and apartments, clean area. Costs a few pretty pennies, but not as bad as a lot of places. Thornton Northglenn Westminster Broomfield These are the north suburbs I think Broomfield might be a bit more pricey than the other 3 Lakewood, Littleton As Denver traffic can often be horrendous, you will want to live reasonably close to where you work. There are a number of older neighborhoods like Highlands, Washington Park, parts of Capital Hill, the DU area, and old town Littleton or Arvada which have reasonable rentals and are relatively safe. In general, the older areas have more character while the suburbs are like anywhere else in the country. Some of the nearer mountain towns are charming and affordable if you can handle the commute. I'm partial to the southern metro area, but there are good areas north, too. You want to avoid Adams county (NE) and city of Aurora (East) if possible. Both have more problems than most and the NE area has the worst air pollution. Stay away from the northern suburbs of Northglenn, Thornton, and Westminster. They are cheaper but also a little questionable on the safety side of things. It's also a little poorer than other parts of the metro area. I love the western and southern sections of town. I live in Lakewood. Basically, west of Wadsworth Blvd. is pretty decent in Lakewood. Anything East of that runs up against Denver and is very Latino and a little scary. I live west of Wadsworth and South of Alameda which has mostly middle and upper-middle class neighborhoods. Rent, I suppose, is decent. Denver generally is kind of expensive. Littleton is also nice and quite affordable. These areas aren't too far from downtown and the Tech Center but they are quite nice and safe. Someone above mentioned the C-470 and Santa Fe area. I agree. That's in southern Littleton in the Mineral area and its very very nice. Maybe a little pricey but very safe and family-friendly. I'd say the northwest suburbs, where you get a great view of the mountains, some nice new housing developments, and much less congested than the towns to the SE of Denver. |
