Why is everything more expensive in Denver then it is in Houston? |
Travel Info I have lived in Houston until recently and when I went grocery shopping I couldn't believe the prices why is everything like $.30-.50 more expensive in Denver?(I have a family of six that 30 cents extra on everything adds up) Why are the house prices so outrageous? I am just needing to know why? Travel Tips Supply and Demand. Location is king, it is a desired area, thus houses can sell higher, if houses are more expensive, then everything else can be as well. Also, because of location, you have to look at the transportation to get things there. So if a milk source is in TX - going to Houston is cheaper than Denver (if coming from same source that is). Just be glad your not in San Diego. Others tourism is the real answer.but i was going to say because the air is thinner depends on where you shop. Safeway is very expensive, King Sooper has great sales 10 for 10 , bogo. they double coupons up to a buck. Super Walmart is the cheapest 20-30 % cheaper than King Soopers except for their sales. Housing is just a supply and demand thing. The last 15 years the housing market couldn't keep up with the people moving to metro Denver A little bit probably has to do with shipping costs to Denver -- things are always a little more expensive to get to the Rocky Mountain West than they are to -- say -- Texas. But the big reason is real estate. There's lots of demand for houses in Denver. With so many wealthy East and West coasters moving here, retiring here, and having vacation homes here, the cost of housing has skyrocketed in the past 10 years. People need to pay rent, so salaries go up, and consequently stores have to charge more for stuff. Groceries: .30 more on everything Not Living in Texas anymore: priceless It's all relative. We moved to Denver from a large east coast city and Denver's cheaper in terms of real estate and taxes. because no one wants to live in a hell hole like Houston....so they have to make things cheaper inorder to get people to live there.....simple really. |
