Denver Co Why so many negative thoughts?!? |
Travel Info I'm thinking to relocate to Denver Co. But I here so many bad things about Denver! I want to know if it's true?! #1 People being so rude and mean..# 2Drivers being so crazy..#3Job's are going down hill..#4 When it snows they do not plow the roads because they think the sun is going to melt it..#5 Traffic is so so terrible..#6 Parking downtown is so expensive..#7 They say that food sucks in Denver specially chines or indian, and then whey to much for the cost..#8 People are very very snobby..#9 NO class in what so ever dressing up, no style..#10 And finally realestate is out of the rooftop.. I personaly didn't see it that much but maybe I was there a week at a time... I would really appreciate the truth!!! Travel Tips I only see a couple of truths in that list. I have lived here (in CO) for about 15 years. The people are very nice here, the drivers are a little nuts, but it's not as bad as some other places i have been (DC, LA, AZ, WA, etc). The parking downtown IS expensive, but the new Mayor made it free on the weekends, which helps a little. The job market is booming, so that's a mistruth. The traffic is only bad in some parts of the major freeways during rushhour (which you will find to be true of EVERY major metropolis). The part about not plowing the streets is true. They will plow the major freeways and roadways, but they dont touch the sidestreets. I'm thinking that this will change soon, however due to the public outcry after the last few blizzards we had here. It's 2+ months later and there is STILL ice on some streets. The public is not happy and i hear that they are going to re-evaluate this, so that might not be a concern in the future. I have had some wonderful chinese AND Indian food since living here... so whomever told you that is incorrect. The people are NOT snobby... trust me. I'm from Phoenix... you want to see some snobby people? take a walk down the street in Scottsdale. The "no style" thing is ludacris. Maybe Boulder has no style, but that's because it's a city of liberal hippies. They think dreadlocks and birkenstocks constitutes "style". But trust me, the rest of the city does not think the same way. Others It sounds like you have pretty much talked yourself out of going there. I don't live there but I have been there many times and I didnt experience any of those things and I think all that you have heard may have been one or two peoples opinions. Why dont you go stay over there for a month and see how you like it before you decide. What???? Who was the one negative person? First off, people in Denver are neither rude or mean unless they're transplants from Southern California. Secondly, the driving part repeats the same as number one. Thirdly, jobs are amazingly plentiful and not sure where the downhill part comes in. Won't even address #4 as that is purely ridiculous. # 5, in which large city is this not true? # 6, same as # 5. Denver at least has extensive public transportation if you're not too selfish to use it. # 7 is again a "what?"....tons of good restaurant options....if comparing to New York maybe not so good. # 8 refers back to # 1 and # 2. # 9 refers to make up your mind, they're all "very snobby" but you want them all to look a certain way? Look up the definition. Lastly, real estate is "off the rooftop" because it's actually a desirable place to live...thats how real estate works. Maybe you're better off in the cowtown you're in based upon the attitude you've developed. I've lived in Denver and as far as fashion goes there really isn't any beyond berkinstocks, shorts and sweatshirts. It is a cowtown still, just with more people. The food though is very good esp. if you have a local that can hook you up. Denver thinks it's 'all that' but it still has a small town mentality. I think though that you will find what you think you'll find whether good or bad. If you thik it'll be bad, it will. if you think it'll be good, it will. It's all up to you. Maybe move there and work to make it better. Be part of the solution. My, my, my, it seems like someone who moved to Denver from somewhere else is trying to lock the gate behind him and not let anyone else in because they like it here so much! If all or any of this were true, why would the area be one of the fastest growing parts of the country? Most of these are very subjective opinions. You have to decide for yourself. "Expensive" is relative... maybe things cost more than where you are now, maybe they don't. Maybe traffic here is worse than where you are, maybe it's not. Believe what you want - it's up to you! You know what? Don't come to Colorado. No Vacancy. Denver is awesome! I think you were writing about California cities! |
