Is there a place in Colorado where you can ski in September? |
Travel Info Me and my family are trying to decide where to go on vacation and we thought about Colorado but we don't wanna go if there's NO snow to ski. I know some places can make there own snow but would it be worth to go to Colorado in Sept and if not when is the best months to go and where????? Thank you!! Travel Tips No skii resorts open in in September, not even A-basin. Usually great weather for other outdoor stuff. My favorite month here. For skiing Feb/March is good. Aspen is the best place to go skiing (very good skiing, fantastic scenery, great hotels and restaurants, great shopping, located in a real town) and people know that so it's very expensive. Vail is similar, with less charm. Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, and Copper Mountain are cheaper. Copper's advertising slogan used to be "a ski resort, not a theme park". Source(s): 17 years in Denver Other Travel Tips No skiing in September. Even if there was snow no resorts are opened at that time. In my opinion, the best times to go is actually right now. It's a slower time of year, tourist wise, there is plenty of snow, and the weather is killer. A-basin is a great place now. A (arapahoe) basin is only place that would poss have snow in late sept... call them. there is PLENTY else to do in CO besides ski. mid Nov. and March is a great time to ski in CO. If you want to ski definitly, try Whistler in Canada. If you want to know a dozen other things to do in CO, just ask! Unlike the Alps, which have summer skiing on glaciers from July through September in a number of locations, there is no summer skiing in the Rockies in Colorado. It is too warm to make snow at that time of year. September/October is a nice time to visit Colorado. It is different to being there in winter, and not as warm as summer. But the fall colour can be nice (not as impressive as the East coast but nice) and its a good time to visit neighbouring Utah with its amazing parks (which are way too hot in summer). |
