Where will we find fun yet affordable skiing in the Granby, Co area? |
Travel Info We are going to Granby, Co April 7-14. We will be staying at the Silver Creek resort. When I made these reservations last year they said they had on-site d/h skiiing. Now they are telling me their slopes close on April 1. Where will be the best place to take the kids to ski? Where is the closest place? And where is the most affordable place? What other things might we enjoy while in the Granby area? Travel Tips The only other place to ski within a reasonable distance is Winter Park, just up the road. It's not a question of being affordable, though, since you won't have a choice other than to drive two hours up to Summit County, but their slopes (Copper, Keystone, Breckenridge) aren't any cheaper! Luckily, we're having a good deal of snow this week and hopefully the slopes will be in good condition during your visit. One great place to visit would be the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park, just north of Granby, outside of Grand Lake. It's gorgeous any time of the year. Look for moose near the lakes - they love to hang out there! Others I am not sure where Granby is but if it is close to Winter Park a drive to Keystone might be worth the trip. This year has been the best snow conditions in three years, so you will have plenty of snow. Very kid friendly place too. For the best deal in lift ticket prices go to a grocery store called King Supers. There you can pre purchese lift tickets at a reduced price. I do it all the time and save about 12.00 off the price of a ticket bought at the resort. Google Kink Supers for locations near denver.
