Summer vacation in denver, co? |
Travel Info one-week vacation for 63-year-olds Travel Tips Denver is a nice city, but most people travel to Colorado for the mountains. You could find nice things to do in the city for a couple of days: wonderful art and natural history museums, the Molly Brown House, the Denver Mint, tours of the sports stadiums, walking around downtown, for instance. I would recommend renting a car for at least some of the time and driving to the mountains. Estes Park is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park and is well worth seeing. Plenty of places to stay and eat there. Also, Colorado Springs is only an hour away and is beautiful: the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, the Olympic Training Center are great. Also, Boulder is worth spending a day visiting. Try www.tripadvisor.com for specific questions and information on where to stay and eat and see - great forums with very informative people. Others Awesome......... there is a lot of things to do. Enjoy. www.ask.com and type in Colorado tourism. Lots of info. Used to live in Colorado I do not know where you live, BUT Wouldn't Las Vegas be better ? - Food, shows, museums Etc - go to www.newcenturyworldtravel.com to get some cheap tickets, hotels, concert tickets, car rentals and ect. If you are active, checkout www.footpathsoftheworld.com . Hiking vacations in Colorado that especially cater to the over-50 crowd. Otherwise, Estes Park is wonderful. Shopping, lodging, good food, and Rocky Mountain National Park! Estes Park is a can't miss if you have never been to Colorado. I have lived here my entire life and heard all the questions there are out there. My favorite is when do the deer turn to elk? Truth be told if you really want to see Colorado then you need to go to the mountains. If you want to steer clear of the tourist traps then I would suggest Leadville or some small town like that. I have always been fond of Walden Colorado myself. North park just past Roosevelt National forest is some of the most breath taking views you will see. You will see your fair share of elk mule deer and the ocasional moose. But, North Park also offers the chance to spot bear lynx and now rumors of wolfs from wyoming. Fishing in this area is great from the miles and miles of streams with beaver dams to the well groomed and stocked lakes. If you end up in this are then make sure you dont miss lake Agness this is just breath taking. |
