What are some of the good and bad neighborhoods of the Denver Metropolitan Area? |
Travel Info What are some of the good and bad neighborhoods of the Denver Metropolitan Area? Travel Tips Head for the suburbs and you'll be fine. It obviously depends on just how 'upscale' a neighborhood you're looking for. The nicest are Greenwood Village and Cherry Hills where homes are easily between .5 million and a million or more. South Lakewood, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, much of Centennial, and Castle Rock are all southern and western suburbs that are pretty solidly middle to upper class. Aurora is mixed--though I would avoid it. The northern suburbs like Thornton and Westminster are also mixed. Some newer subdivisions are very nice while other areas are a little rough. As far as the city of Denver itself, Washington Park and most of Denver east of Colorado Blvd. is pretty nice. But homes are smaller and older yet more expensive than those in the 'burbs. I'm just not a big fan of the city of Denver. It's a small city surrouded by millions of people in the suburbs and I think it makes urban folks a little whacky. Denverites are some of the stranger folks you'll meet. On the other hand, suburban Denver (which, I consider, to be the 'real' Denver) is much more down-to-earth, more conservative, and better for families. Others For nightlife/restaurants you'll want to check out "LoDo." That is a neighborhood near Coors Field, sort of. For shopping you will want to check out Cherry Creek, which has a large, upscale shopping center with all of the usual names. Been there. The Highlands / Sloans Lake area of Denver is wonderful and property values are really taking off. You can get in still and find fixer uppers here and there. http://www.bleachlady.com If you want to make a buck, then I suggest Curtis park or north denver. But don't pass Downing. Highlands is cool as well. If you wanna make babies then I suggest Cherrycreek or wheatridge. Personally I'm heading out to Morrison to do that. Wash Park is starting to suck because is so congested and very over-rated. Highlands is like Wash Park but not as many people. You can buy may house if you're looking. Curtis Park $324,000 Good Washington Park Park Hill Cherry Hills Village Englewood Littleton Bad Montbello Five Points Aurora Globeville Hope this helps |
