Travel Tips Whether someplace is "worth" visiting depends on what you like to see and do; if you like upscale, expensive, attractive mountain towns with incredible scenery, then Aspen would be worth it! The town is wonderful - plenty of places to shop and eat and cultural attractions like the Aspen Music Festival in the summer. If you like outdoors activities like hiking and biking, then this is place. Maroon Bells is a wilderness area near Aspen that is one of the most beautiful in world - snow-capped mountain peaks reflected in a lake, surrounded by wildflowers in summer or golden aspen in the fall. You could drive to the top of Independence Pass for a really cool mountaintop view and visit a ghost town from the 1800s. There are bike trails along the Rio Grande river. You might even see a celebrity or two chillin' in a local bar or shopping in the expensive boutiques. Of course, Aspen is the place to be and be seen for wintertime skiing as well. So if this sounds good to you, it would be worth it to visit Aspen. Others Yes, but there is much more worth seeing on the Western slope... I went in September for a day or two & had a great time. Parking in downtown Aspen is a pain, so park your vehicle and walk around the area. I went horseback riding, which offered beautiful views of the mountains and after went to Maroon Bells, which supposedly is the most photographed place in North America. Lots of trails, a lake, lots of beautiful scenery. Again parking is an issue once you get to the lake. Lots of little shops & great restaurants. I would definately visit Aspen again. if anything i would go there just to say you did. i have been going up there with my family for years(we have a condo in downtown aspen). i would say that you would enjoy it more if you like nature. but go after labor day there are some seriously good sales. last year i got a pair of juicy couture shoes for 15.00. |
