Commerce City Crime????

Travel Info
OK, I have heard from a few people that commerce city is full of crime and crack addicts. I need a place to move. I dont want to live in a place like that. I live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania now and my fiance and I are moving there in August. We want a nice quiet home for rent, which is not in the city or in the slums. The fiance is getting a job in Commerce City, so the house needs to be somewhere very close to there.

Travel Tips
There are new housing developments on the far northeast edge of the Commerce City area -- nearly to Thornton, and not far from the airport -- that have a CC mailing address, but are far different in character from the more established neighborhoods. Quiet, very nice, but still accessible. You don't have to live right in CC to be convenient to your fiance's job, the freeways in the northeast suburbs make commuting from other areas quite do-able.
Others
It's not that bad. Aurora is worse. The cops recently broke up a lot of the gangs and arrested a bunch of the criminals in that area, so it should be safer than it was. Personally, I prefer the West Side... much greener and safer. If he's working in Commerce City though, it's not a bad commute from Broomfield, Westminster, and Northglenn. All of those areas along I-25 between Turnpike 36 and I-76 will be fine. Not as good as Golden and Lakewood and so on, but better than Aurora and Commerce City.

Note: Your involvement in a crime is highly related to what you are doing. Gangs don't typically hassle people who aren't involved in their 'thing'. The random drive-by shooting of an innocent person doesn't happen that often anymore, like it did in the 90s.
I grew up in Commerce City and still have many friends there. Crime is not that bad of a problem. I have lived in Aurora for over 20 years, and yes there are parts of Aurora that are not the best, but if you lived in the South part of Aurora, it's not bad. Commute to Commerce City is easy from many parts of metro area.
I am all about living on the northwest side.....Arvada, Westminster. I commute downtown in 15 minutes from Arvada everyday. Low crime, closer to the mountains, not Aurora. Seems like a better quality of life in general.
