Commerce City Crime??? |
Travel Info OK, I have heard from a few people that commerce city is full of crime and crack addicts. I need a place to move. I dont want to live in a place like that. I live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania now and my fiance and I are moving there in August. We want a nice quiet home for rent, which is not in the city or in the slums. The fiance is getting a job in Commerce City, so the house needs to be somewhere very close to there. Travel Tips Commerce City (as the name suggests) is a fine place to run your business, but is certainly not where I would choose to live. There is a ton of industry out there, so you would have 2 oil refineries, a huge power plant, cattle feed lots and a dog food factory (just to name a few) literally in your backyard. That being said, there has been a lot of growth on the north side of town, which is farther away from most of the industries. There are some really big housing developments that look nice; however I don't think there is much of a rental market. I would suggest living in Denver's Stapleton area. They have revitalized that area quite a bit and you can find affordable housing, shops, parks and is much nicer and safer than Commerce City. You can hop on highway 287 and be in Commerce City in 10 minutes. If Stapleton is too urban, you could check out Aurora. There are some very nice parts of Aurora and some really crappy parts, so you will have to look around. I personally do not care for Aurora, it has a very suburban strip mall feel to it, but some people really love it there. Commute to Commerce City could be anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour depending on where you live. Others First off, you don't necessarily need to live in Commerce City. There are plenty of areas within driving distance (Denver, Brighton, Aurora, Stapleton) On to the crime stats: Crime: The number of violent crimes recorded by the FBI in 2003 was 177. The number of murders and homicides was 2. The violent crime rate was 7.3 per 1,000 people. Commerce City's property crime levels tend to be much higher than Colorado's average level. The same data shows violent crime levels in Commerce City tend to be much higher than Colorado's average level. City Population: 24,161 Murder: 2 Forcible Rape: 17 Robbery: 35 Aggravated Assault: 123 Burglary: 358 Larceny or Theft: 1,427 Car Theft: 375 Arson: 15 Data Source: 2003 FBI Report of Offenses Known to Law Enforcement Links for more info: http://www.epodunk.com/cgi-bin/geninfo.p... http://www.idcide.com/citydata/co/commer... http://www.cityrating.com/citycrime.asp?... Good Luck! Commerce City is building out and the newer parts of the city are very nice. The older part of Commerce city is a place that i don't even much like to drive through at night. Try the newer parts of Brighton or Thornton. I live in Brighton and it has grown a lot in the last five years. There are a lot of Hispanics and migrant workers here so if that's a problem for you i don't knwo what to say. |
