Colorado/ Denver?

I am thinking of moving to the Denver area, but I have never been there and I have no idea what it is like. Can anyone tell me about the weather, atmosphere, what the people are like, etc?

I am orginally form the Denver area. My mother and brothers still live there. Like any major metropolitan it has its good and bad areas, party spots and bad people. As a general rule though, you will find the people freindlier than those anywhere in the Northeast, (I currently live near Philadelphia) and less stuck up than those in California. The pace is faster than that of the southern states (but not by much) and the whole attitude is basically liberal with a slant towards the right. The weather is generally 4 season with winter lasting the longest with sometimes snowing mid October into late April but the air is usually dry so you don't get that bitter chill that seems to cut through you like the northeast does. It will take you some time to get aclimated to the height above sea level so don't freak out if you seem to get tired quickly and are gasping for breath after mild exertion.

Imagine 300 sunny days a year. Very low humidity, so 90 degree+ days in summer are not opressive. The winter sun is warm, so on sunny days with temps above 40 degrees, you often find people don't wear their coats.

Except for the past freakish winter, the winters are usually very mild. I have gone golfing in January at least once every year since 2000 (except for this year).

Denver is not a terribly green place - everything that grows has to be watered, so if the summer is very dry you have to expect to see a lot of brown.

The people are an interesting mix. A whole lot of people are from somewhere else, so it is easy to find alumni clubs and sprots fans from virtually everywhere. There are a lot of outdoor activities, and you'll find the population to be pretty fit compared to other places.
