Denver in one day?!?!? |
Travel Info I'm gonna be driving from San Diego to Chicago, and I'm gonna be staying in Denver for one night. What do I need to see, and what can I do in one day in Denver. (we're 21yrs old, so no zoos, or museums, etc.) Travel Tips Go downtown. Denver was rated the Drunkest City in America last year, so you can go downtown and see why. There's plenty of bars and nightlife down there. The other, less obnoxious suggestions to venture out of the city are cool, too. We have it all, from rural attractions/nature/mountains to a semi-large urban city. Others Head up to Black Hawk & Central City for a day of gambling and fun in the casinos. http://www.cityofblackhawk.org/... After that, on your way back to Denver, stop in Golden for a tour of the Coors Brewery and a couple of free icy cold beers. http://www.lakewoodcoloradorealestate.co... Finish the day off hanging out in the many to choose from restaurants and night clubs of LoDo (downtown Denver!). http://www.lodo.org/ Colorado Native....and proud of it!! So once you hit 21 you don't go to zoos and museums? Awww man, no one told me, and I've been going to them all this time. Sorry, I'm too out of touch to help you. If you've never been in Colorado, stopping for a day in Denver is a waste. It's just a city. Some better ideas. Stop in Glenwood Springs. Swim in the hot springs pool at night. The next day drive through Aspen. Take the gondola to the top of the mountain. Get back to I-70 by going through Leadville. Stop in Georgetown. The next day do the loop over 34 through Rocky Mountain National Park. It's been listed as one of the 10 most scenic roads in the world. Best not to do it on a weekend, though - traffic. Come back down through Boulder if you have the time. Otherwise you can head straight out to I-25 and up to I-80. Those are my top choices. You could also stay in Dillon, and do the Breckinridge/285 loop. Or stay in Blackhawk/Central City, see the casinos and the old victorian town, and drive North from there. Or stay in Durango and head straight East from there. A guidebook on Colorado might give you other ideas. The basic idea is that a day in the mountains beats a day in Denver, hands down. You should see if there is a show at Red Rocks. The best place on Earth to see a live show. http://www.bleachlady.com |
