Mass transportation in Denver? And what is an affordable suburb in the Denver area? |
Travel Info I live on disability and was wondering about the cost of living in Denver. Can you get around without a car and are there any suburbs around the city proper that would be deemed affordable? Travel Tips We actually have GREAT weather here, the best of any place I've lived! Sure it was a snowy, horrible Dec-Jan, but that was totally abnormal - winters are usually dry and sunny in Denver. Yes there is a reasonable mass transit system, but it works best for commuters coming in and out of the city during rush hour, and not so much for point-to-point in the suburbs. Here's the website for Denver's bus and light rail system: www.rtd-denver.com. They have a good system for the disabled, if that's something you qualify for. Denver is geared more to auto transport, but it's not impossible to get around without one if you plan accordingly. Aurora might be a community that would interest you. Their housing is less expensive. It's a diverse area with older homes in the close-in area and new developments out on the eastern plains. Lakewood would also be an area with less expensive housing. You could check The Denver Post online edition for classified ads to get an idea of what people are paying these days. Others why would a disabled person want to move here??? we have terrible weather here! |
