Travel Info If you wanted to ski Breckenridge, CO and had a choice of dec 1-8, '07 or apr 5-12, '08 which would you choos? Travel Tips Odds are that snow will be better (or at least there!) in December. They'll make snow in December, but not in April when the season end is near. There is also a much higher energy level in town as everyone anticipates the upcoming season. And finally, you'll have a better chance of getting new equipment if you are renting. Have a blast. Source(s): Veteran of many Summit County ski seasons. Other Travel Tips First, let me say that Breckenridge is really great. I loved it there. Both of the dates you suggest are potentially questionable as to the amount of snow available. It's purely a guess, but I'd go with April 2008. If you have half as much fun as I did, you'll love it. sorry, but both of those dates suck. If I HAD to pick one I would go with the December one because there will atleast be some snow then but this past April, there was almost no snow at all and the bit that was left was really crappy. Just ask God for some early snow and it'll be ok. For future reference, Jan-March is when you are going to get the best ski experience in CO. Dec 1 is very early and April 5 is very late. This past season, December would have been fine, but April was slushy. I'd say December would be a slightly better chance of good conditions. You could always go over to Keystone where they make a lot of snow if Breckenridge isn't spectacular. The snow is better in December, it can get a little icey in April go in december. the snow is good and its not so crowded and tickets cheaper i think. but april can b good cuz it so warm but the snow sometimes sucks. also if there not enough snow in breckenridge loveland and arapahoe basin have good snow early and late usually. and winter park is good. that where i always ski and i like it but snow isnt the greatest either time |
