Why is the Denver Airport so far away from town??? |
Travel Info It is far away, why didn't they build the Denver Airport closer to town; its not near anything! Travel Tips It was built with the idea of being expandable to accomodate planes (even space planes) or the future. Rather than build to the current class of air travel, it is one of the few airports in the word that has virtually unlimited expansion capabilities. (The land it is on is the size of Manhattan!) Also, as others have said, the noise and polution was particularly bad with the old airport - and you have to go where the land exists and the property values are low. Others Because being close to an airport drops property values, and there are law about noise polution. NOISE & SAFETY are the most important reasons. Skyscrapers and Mountains So that climbing up a mile can help people lose weight. Because it takes a lot of room to land a plane! Airports take up a huge amount of property, and most city centers are already congested with homes and businesses. it used to be right in town but it got tooooo big! the only place they could fit it was out where it is now. |
