Can someone pleae explain red rocks amphitheatre to me? |
Travel Info can you sit where ever you want? i plan on going to the beastie boys concert, and it says that rows 1-48 are reserved, so what is a general admissions ticket? where is the best place to sit, if 1-48 are reserved? should i arrive early to get the best seats? this will be my first concert experience, so i really have no idea what to expect. thanks! Travel Tips I've seen a number of concerts there. It's fun to head up there during the day and hike around a bit when there is no concert, as you can really see the area in the daylight... which sort of preps you for the concert at night. Anyhow, in it's essence, Red Rocks is a big "bowl" made of stone. The natural rock bowl makes for a pretty cool acoustical effect, especially if you sit mid to low level. I don't recall if it's all reserved seating now, or if it's half open, half reserved. The seats are all stone, with painted numbers on them. At times, you have to kick people out of your seat, especially if you've got close seats. If you get very close seats, you'll get wristbands, and staff will monitor who gets in/out of this "special" roped off area. Parking is good bad. The good is that the parking lot can be a great source of pre-concert entertainment/partying. The bad is that getting out of there after a concert is over can take a long time. No, really. At any rate, the concerts at Red Rocks can be pretty darn cool. There is just something about it that makes for an unforgettable experience. They also do movies on the rocks, where they put up a big screen in the summer/fall, and you can watch old movies there. Pretty cool. Others I am sure red rocks has a website with a layout that would explain all of that to you. I hope you have big fun! Red Rocks used to be all general admission seating. Apparently they've changed that in the first 48 rows. In my experience at Red Rocks, it's best to get there plenty early and park as far out as you can stand because getting out of there after a concert can be a nightmare. I don't know if they still allow it but some of the best seats I've had are in the planters along the sides where the steps are. While everyone else was crowding to sit in the middle, we'd sit on the side and very close to the stage. Be careful up there - someone was just bitten by a rattlesnake at Red Rocks. Ok - I'm going to Rise Against in September so I just got tickets as well. Yes, 1-48 are reserved giving a specific row and seat number. When I got tickets to mine each said 3-then seat number. Anything behind that is general admission but it is not general admission like you would think at other concerts. Usually GA means pit or standing in a big area - or the lawn like at Coors. Here, it is seating but it is first come first serve. So if you want a seat that is closer up in that section you will want to get there early. The seats are really pointless once the concert starts since everyone stands anyway. So it's a matter of how close you want to be. Have a good time - hope this helped to clear things up! rows 1-48 are reserved for vips...general admission is where u can sit whereever u want...you should get there really early(at least 2 hours) and look around...figure out where u can see the stage the best...keep in mind that you will be standing...so don't sit behind someone tall!! have fun p.s. wear comfy shoes!! |
