It's possible Ford or GM could snuff it, most likely GM, as Ford is getting very aggressive with it's dual power vehicles. In 2010, I see yet another puffed up poser as Mayor, or maybe the same one. The city falling further into decline...along with the 'burbs surrounding it. Maybe you'll be able to get a huge house for the price of a bungalow, as those with a need/desire for this type of home had long since moved where there's money to be made.
