Cars, Motown, poverty, rust belt city struggling to recover its industrial-revolution-powered glory, corrupt city government, haven for runaway slaves in the 18th century, Pistons, Red Wings, surprisingly the Tigers, white flight, Black Bottom, Eminem, The White Stripes, ICP, suburban sprawl, Joe Louis, largest Arab population outside of the Middle East, Day-twah.

its largely black with a street called 8 mile and home place of doo wop and eminem

tons of black people & a run down city in general.
It's a Hell-Hole. You couldn't pay me to go there.
Dirty, ghetto and unappealing in general. I've never been there though so I don't have my own opinion.
Cess Pool... at least that is the general concensus. I actually like Detroit (in the daytime), but I am definetely in the minority.
