Travel Info What is the wealthiest city/suburb in detroit? Travel Tips Bloomfield Hills is old money, Novi is new money, Grosse Pointe is one of the oldest money areas. I assume you speak of the "Detroit area." People are going further North and West of Detroit. Rochester is popular and north of downtown, which is old money and new. Birmingham you dont' hear much about any more, it is a "wealthy" area also. Small shops etc... Royal Oak has taken over what Birmingham was. Royal Oak is up and coming and a hot spot for 20's/30's. Probably Gross Point. I know that is where lots of the old money lives. Of course Auburn Hills is moving up. Really all of Oakland County is wealthy. Grosse Point, or Bloomfield Hills Id say Grosse Point, for sure Bloomfield may be richer in value of land/property, but Beverly Hills, Michigan is richer in residents.
