What kind of trip can I take with my dog in Michigan? |
Travel Info My husband and I have a 4 month old Lhasa Apso puppy and want to take him with us for a weekend trip in Michigan. We live in the Pontiac area and want something in driving distance. Travel Tips Go to Sleepy Bear Sand Dunes its beautiful this time of year, near Traverse city Others I would suggest a camping trip for the weekend. Just make sure you have a crate to put your puppy in when you go. If you aren't tent type campers some of the state parks have small cabins that they rent out. Reference is shown below. I think that this would be a good time with oncoming fall colors, and you wouldn't have to worry too much about the puppy being disruptive as you would at a hotel or condo. Sorry I went back and reread the state of Michigan site and it says you can't have pets inside the mini cabins. You might not want to have the puppy outside in a crate all night, but that might work too. I would also look for cabins for rent that accepted pets up in the thumb, possibly on or near the water. Would be a nice short trip. Good luck, traveling with your dog is good practice to get them used to being in the car. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7-153... go camping in a tent or trailer @ Sleeper State Park ( in the thumb) I have traveled all over Michigan and know of no motel/hotel that accepts pets any where in the UP there is plenty of wide open space and hicking trails. sturgeon river gorge is a really nice place and the 30 foot cliff jump is awsome. though i'm not sure your dog would like that. |
