I am going to be visiting detroit on october the 9th and i need to know if this is true or not? |
Travel Info i heard that detroit michigan is the most beautifull and one of the most friendliest cities in the united states and that it is just like where i live in west virginia that the people there are warm helpful and just like people in the south and is the one of the safest places in the usa for women Travel Tips I guess we need a bit more information. Are you going to be in Detroit itself (the tourist areas are perfectly safe in the city but I wouldn't call them beautiful), the suburbs (and then which one, because they also vary greatly), or, somewhere further out-state. Depending on where you're going to be exactly I can either totally agree with the assessment you were given or agree with most of the other responses that it seems someone is trying to play a joke on you. Generally, Michiganians are quite friendly and most of the state is incredibely safe. Depending on where you are the scenery can be very pretty or quite depressing. Although I do my best to defend DEtroit and point out all the things the city does have to offer, I must caution you much of Detroit itself however is quite run down and potentially dangerous- especially for a woman by herself. Feel free to contact/message me with any further info you may want/need on the metro-Detroit area. Others Yeah, that's true . . you should have no problem there . . . Uh where did you hear this? I have NEVER heard this. My brothers gf is from Detroit and it's not all that great......the most beautiful? Really where did you hear this? Someone lied to you. I used to live near Detroit. The view of Detroit from Windsor is nice, but other than that, Detroit is pretty ghettofied. Friendly people? No. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Someone sold you a twisted sheep on that one since you are from "the Hills" :-) I'm from Chicago and Detroit is pretty much like the hoods in Chicago; except it takes about a day for the police to come if you call for them because they are severly short staffed. It's not the worst place to go but make sure you don't leave your car doors unlocked or leave any valuables in an unsafe place. It's me again. Thanks for the Best Answer. Detroit is 95% black and violent. Of course, they always talk of revitalization, and they do try to make the city better. Actually though, they've had houses stripped of aluminum siding to sell the scrap metal. Detroit used to be the murder capital of the USA. The bus station very well might be near all the skyscrapers though, and that is a safer part of town with all the workers about and what have you. Let me tell you how I know about bus stations. I was homeless for a couple of years, and I hitchhiked around the USA. I've been to many cities and the bus stations in particular. I've sat in them for the afternoon and checked the place out. Well, you can't get in except though the front door. That's one thing that I noticed because I wanted to find a way in. The place is sealed off to keep out bad people. The place is usually walled off with a cinderblock wall that has a chain link fence on top of that for security - especially where the buses are. Bus stations make sure that people can't get on and off the property except through the front door. The neighborhood may be a bad neighborhood, but the bus station is its own little world. The suburbs of Detroit are a different story. I think the Tool Man Tim Taylor is from there, but I'm not sure. As far as clubs, Eminem grew up on the northside of Detroit, and I've heard that there are lots of clubs in certain sections of the northside. Which highway? I dunno. My momma is from Bluefield, West Virginia. She was very poor so her family moved away when she was a young girl to Norfolk, VA so grandpa could find work. Good luck to you and your soldier husband and your young'un. P.S. Half of America might show up in Detroit on October 9th to check out you out in your trenchcoat. |
