I remember a bridge going to Belle Isle but never a tunnel. There's no tunnel to Belle Isle. There's a tunnel to Canada, if that's what you're thinking about. I've been in the area 30+ years and don't ever remember a tunnel. The Belle Isle Bridge is so short, I can't image there was ever a tunnel as it wouldn't serve much of a purpose and the entryway and exitway of the tunnel would take up a lot of the width of the narrow island.
