What do do in Michigan?

Travel Info
I'm visiting my brother in the ann arbor/detroit area next weekend. What is something that we can do for fun..(btw, we're both in our twenties). I don't know anything about the area at all...i'm a souther girl...I love the classic and the random things to do.

Travel Tips
I was just in Detroit last weekend. There isn't that much to do especially in the winter. If you are interested in watching some performing arts you might want to go see Delirium which is a Cirque Di Soleil show. Go to www.visitdetroit.com to find out what's going on next weekend.

I also would recommend going to Pontiac, Bloomington, Troy, or any suburbs for the clubs. It is alot safer than going to bars/cubs in downtown Detroit.

There are a few casinos downtown - MGM Grand and Greektown.

I almost forgot - If you are into Sports - go see the PISTONS at the Palace of Auburn Hills. I don't know their ranking this year but they do deliver a good performance especially at home court.

Have fun!!! Enjoy the snow and be sure to wear WARM clothes!!!

Others
if your in downtown Detroit, visit Greektown which has lovely restaurants and Campus Martious which has ice skating and a hard rock cafe nearby
There are a few casinos in downtown detroit plus some restaurants. MGM and Greektown are the two nicer casinos and Motor City Casino not so nice IMO. There isnt much to see in the city itself that is not on/near the Detroit River.

If you are in or around Oakland County there are a lot of places to eat, drink, etc along Woodward Ave. Royal Oak, Birmingham, and Ferndale have a lot of bars and restaurants.

Ann Arbor itself should have a lot in the way of restaurants and bars too. There are good expensive places to eat like Gratzi for Italian Food or the Gandy Dancer for Seafood, plus many not so expensive places. You can get around most of the campus and downtown just by walking.
If you like to shop downtown Ann Arbor has nice stores to go to. Def. ride the people mover in downtown detroit..its hillarious and only 50 cents.

and be sure to visit the DIA ( Detroit Institute of Arts)
You can visit Downtown, Creektown, Casinos.
You can head over across the border to Windsor.
You could go up to Frankenmuth for the day, it's only about two hours or less from ann arbor.
Pick up one of those free papers around the Uof M campus, and find something around ann arbor to do...you will be disapointed if you drive 30 miles to detroit to do nothing
go clubbing. plain and simple. or you could act like total tourists and spend the whole day on the people mover and take pictures while your on it.
