When is Detroit going to Demolish the Michigan Central Station? |
Travel Info The Michigan Central Station is an vacant train station on Michigan Aveune in Detroit. The station closed down in 1988 and I was wondering if Detroit is planning on demolishing the station anytime soon? After all, it will be abandoned for 20 years starting next January. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/michigan_ce... Travel Tips there is no definite plans to tear it down just yet There is still talk of turning it into the Detroit Police Headquarters not too sure why as the building has been pretty much gutted It has been used in 4 movies scenes Mom and Dad met there in spring 1950 when Mom ran the newspaper stand in the middle of the once beautiful lobby and Dad worked in the Railroads Financial department upstairs Grandpa ran the restaurant in the far Right corner of the building Others Never. It is a shrine to the failed policies and corrupt city goverments. About ten years ago, they still had the area in the back where you waited for the train...its demolished now...i have been inside that building, and its really comparable to how grand central station in ny is .....i must have been a beautiful building it depends on the owner, he is the same person who owns the ambassador bridge. There's been talk that it will turn into police headquaters but who knows what that man will do next. He's bought all the surrounding property around the bridge. My Father works for a company he said there going to konck it down 2010 My Father I do not see the Michigan Central Station getting demolished anytime soon. I wish they had demolished that building before Super Bowl XL came to town but I am four sure it will still be around after they host the 2009 NCAA Final Four. |
