How is your economy and job situation in Michigan? HELLO? ANYONE THERE? MICHIGAN? HELLO? hello (echo) ????? |
Travel Info has everyone left???? where is everyone???? can I join you in your grocery cart on the street? I couldn't afford my own? this is Bush's fault isn't it???? Travel Tips I'll try to keep this short. Sure, Bush has not done anywhere near enough, if anything, to help Detroit. It took many requests by the auto industry for him to sit down with them. One in seven jobs in the U.S. rely on the auto industry. I can not even imagine what the impact is on our state alone. I blame Granholm for most of the problem with the economy. She has not given tax breaks (as incentives) to business' to stay or relocate to Michigan. Tax breaks on land that we are not taxing now. We have nothing to lose if we give a tax break, as an incentive, on a piece of land that is vacant and not generating tax now. If she gave tax beaks on vacant properties, at least there would be employment. We must also give credit to our Mayor Kwamee Fitzpatrick in Detroit. It is no sectret that he is corrupt, ( a fact that the entire Country is aware of ) taking credit for development that former mayor Archer set into motion. Dennis Archer ( the last mayor and former Supreme Court Judge ) was the only honest and honorable man in office in the last several generations. We are dead last in states that have bad economies and lead the country in property repossesions and foreclosures. One in every twenty one houses in Wayne county (Detroit) are in foreclosure. We have talented people here that have to move out of state for employment. Many other states are advertising here for jobs in there states. We have the largest number of engineers in the country in Detroit and its suburbs. You can blame every level of government if you ask me. Oh, thats right, you did ask me. Others Bush can't take all the blame..Granholm is an even bigger looser than he is. She has no business sense what so eer and I am absolutely STUNNED that she was re-elected! from what I've heard , most of it is Granholms fault ,unless you are a democrat...Many business leaving the state..Used to live in the U.P. till I decided I wanted a job that more than minimum wage,so bye bye Yes. There are a few of us still here. I have lived here for only 4 yrs, but want to go back to MN. It isn't just Granholm. MI problems are multi-faceted. The city of Detroit had one mayor for too many years that bred a culture of coruption. That culture, by the way, isn't isolated to just Detroit. Detroit is the only city in the US that allows burned out buildings to stand for decades. And then we can talk about the poor forsight of the auto industry. The unions are partly responible for cutting their own throats as well. Granholm inherited a lot of questionable policies from the previous Governor, so the blame can't be placed on her doorstep alone. The Governor isn't responsible for gas prices or other national influences, either. What surprises me, is their lack of promoting nationally recognized hospitals and Universities. Medical care is the future with all us Boomers getting older everyday. Education is the other factor. Michigan only wanted to educate towards the manufacturing sector, since factory work was what most people ever looked to for their future. Even Comerica bank is moving to TX because they can't find "quality employees." I don't know if Michigan can be saved. It will take Billions of dollars to invest in education and seek other industry to come here once the schools come up to snuff. It will take years. Don't get me started about the City of Detroit. What was the City Council doing when every other city with a major waterfront was reinventing their downtowns?! So far we still have a roof over our heads. Awful! I am not quite sure how this question relates to traveling to Detroit, Michigan but how is Michigan economy President of the United States of America George W. Bush fault? After all, George W. Bush is not the Governor of Michigan and the rest of the United States of America is booming with jobs and every state in the union has a growing economy except for Michigan? Why? I believe it is because of Detroit. The City of Detroit revolves around the State of Michigan for assistance and if it was not for the State of Michigan, Detroit would go Completely Out of Business. Also, Michigan is ranked dead last in places to do business in and to relocate to as well. So how is this President Bush fault when HE is not the Governor of Michigan? Its in a small part a fault of the state government that did not have the foresight to see they were too dependent on one industry. It is entirely the fault of the shortsighted auto industry that considers planning for 10 years, long term planning..whereas the japanese plan for 50 yr cycles. And frankly, even todays American cars are junk. They will never compare with the japanese, they dropped the ball 30 or 40 years ago when they had a chance. Asking the federal government to keep out a better product, isn't competition...if it wasnt for the japanese competition, the american cars would be crappier than they are. |
