How is detroit for living? |
Travel Info i am a 28 year old doctor moving from another country Travel Tips you people crack me up. seriously. yes, some parts of detroit appear much much much worse than others... but there really arn't any "good areas" outside of your high class ritzy communities. just becuase your street looks nicer than the street 5 miles over doesn't mean it is nicer. you're still in detroit. do you think criminals don't know how to drive five miles to break into your house? Others It can be as different as night and day depending on where you move. My grandfather lives on a very nice street in a quiet neighborhood, but when I was in detroit I lived on a street with boarded up houses and shoot-outs. Look into the area, are there a lot of empty houses and closed-up shops? Probably not a good area. Check the crime rates and see how well and how much houses in the area sell for. It's like no other city I've ever lived in (or been to), and not in a good way. The grocery stores are very, very limited (we usually have to drive far out of the way for a REAL store) and the number of enormous potholes on the roads is absolutely ridiculous. Don't buy a cheap car if you're going to live here, because it'll be damaged by the potholes in no time. Insurance prices are EXTREMELY high. Living in Detroit is almost like not even being in the United States. If I were you, I would definitely not move here. If it has to be Michigan, choose another city. it depends where you will live. there is some bad places but there is some good places. or you can live somewhere near Detroit. Detroit might be a good place for you to live if you like sports too. a detroiter well Detroit is a sh** hole! I would suggest the clarkston area or Clinton township but definitely not right in Detroit or the dearborn area. You'll definitely regret it. As a doctor you could live and work anywhere in America. Do not go to Detroit. If you must, then find a place to live out of the city. It has a terrible reputation and quite honestly one of the worst places in America to live I'm sorry to tell you.
