Moving to Dearborn Michigan.......?

I will probably be moving to Dearborn Michigan and wanted to know about any information I can get regarding apartment rents. If possible areas that have less crime and less noisy....thanks.

okay let's get this mess straight -- dearborn is really two separate communities: west dearborn and east dearborn (formerly known as Fordson). west dearborn is still overwhelmingly white, populated with ford motor execs, engineers and the odd plant rat. a nice mix of working class and upper middle class families. east dearborn is almost entirely arabic, and it abuts the city of detroit. east dearborn is the 'ghetto buffer' for west dearborn. (east dearborn maintains a vigilant barrier against encroachment of detroit crime and ghettoism. kudos to the arab community.)

west dearborn used to be an outstanding community with excellent public schools and high property taxes to keep the riff raff at bay. it has decreased in standing over the past couple of decades. but it still remains a good, stable community. it's just no longer an elite suburb.

(quick history: the trend in detroit has been outward expansion AWAY from detroit. detroit is a fucked up city, no nice way to put it. this has negatively impacted dearborn, creating gaps where affluent residents move out and less affluent residents move in.)

both are decent communities to live in. not great, but good. just consider if you want a safer, traditional suburban experience (west) or grittier, urban ethnic experience (east). Source(s): grew up in dearborn

Dearborn Michigan is awesome! It's really nice there. There is huge arab population there. Do you know the street Cherry Hill. Well there's a nice subbivision there that is lovely and very quiet. I used to live there.
Past experience
Dearborn is becoming increasingly higher crime as time goes by and more immigrants without jobs , cant speak English move in
as for noise.. If you don't mind the 5a and 5times a day sirens for the call to Allah? from the Arab Centers you'll do just fine

You might want to consider moving to Dearborn Heights, Livonia, Canton, Garden City or Westland instead
If you go to Dearborn, go to West Dearborn, it's much safer. West Dearborn would be considered anything between Evergreen and Telegraph. The rent is a bit higher though, you can get something nice for around $1000 a month, maybe cheaper if you don't need anything luxurious. West Dearborn has plenty of nightlife/restaurants on Michigan Ave, near Monroe. It's a pretty nice town, nothing extravagant, but nice.
Dearborn is pretty dangerous - I would try and find a place in surrounding areas. Goodluck.
