Other Travel Tips Dude, do not move to Detroit because it's Detroit....... Detroit, assuming you're talking about the city and not the suburbs, has a reputation for high crime and empty neighbourhoods that isn't for everyone. But don't let that deter you if you can handle an inner city environment, and besides, not all neighbourhoods are bad; I heard that the downtown area has been revitalized over the last couple of years. Most American cities contain a balance of bright and run-down communities. Some people find that the "grittiness" of Rust Belt cities give them that extra character - something that I respect; not all cities should be Las Vegas-style plastic. You do want to have a car though; transit in Motown is practically nonexistant. Of course, if you're simply working in Detroit you could always find a place in the suburbs and commute. While Detroit has it's share of inner city problems, the metro area as a whole is quite vibrant and progressive. The weather is not too extreme and best of all ICP ( Insane Clown Posse) is from the metro area! No. I live near there. Michigan is having a hard enough time with employment. We don't need more people here to increase the competition. if youve got employment ready for you, then sure, why not? but pick a burb or downriver place to live. |
