What part of Detroit is safe to get a hotel?

Travel Info
My wife and I are driving up from Cleveland and wanted to go to the casinos and the car museum in Dearborn. Any suggestions on what areas to avoid would be appreciated. I am not looking for the same ole song and dance, "Oh it's all safe" or " Oh the whole city is crime riddled." I live in Cleveland. I know crime, been robbed at gunpoint, been pulled out've a car at gunpoint by the cops cause I was lost in the wrong neighborhood. Life happens in big cities. I just want to avoid the seedier side of it. I know Livonia and Novi are safe, just looking for something closer to Dearborn.

Travel Tips
Just stay in Dearborn its perfectly safe and really close to the museum. There is the Hyatt on Ford and Southfield and a Ritz Carlton if you can afford it also on Ford and Southfield. Lots of celebreties stay at that Ritz. If its safe enough for them I'm sure you'll be O.K. There is also the Dearborn Inn, a Marriot and a Double tree all in the same general area. All of this is technically about a 1/2 a mile from what is actually Detroit but you won't even know when you've entered it. This part of Detroit is a mixed neighborhood that is pretty safe. I've lived there my whole life and I have never been robbed, carjacked, shot at or anything else. All of the "crazies" know to stay out of Dearborn the police are pretty harsh there. It would probably be more convieniant to stay in one of the hotels I mentioned. They are all practically within walking distance of the museum and you won't run the risk of getting lost in some truelly bad part of Detroit which might happen if you stayed somewhere like Troy and had to drive through the city.

i recomend sleeaping in a car hotels in detroit stink unless u like sleeaping with rats!!!
If you're already use to the crime than any hotel in dearborn will do you just fine, that part isn't riddled with any mor ecrime than anywhere else really, I understand you don't want to get lost I recomend holiday inn or best western they're nicer hotels and are in allen park which is basically a nice side of dearborn. Hope that helps
Renaissance Inn @ Southfield freeway/Ford Rd
Doubletree in same location
Hyatt on Southfield Service Drive closer to Michigan Ave
there are also a few hotels/motels near the North side of Fairlane Mall
so your traveling to the underworld?
we have been waiting for you mahahah......
just kidding,
the one hotel that won't have a corpse in the next room is the Renaissance , and it is 160 a night. I stayed at the Omni, but I had to drive a block, it was frightening?????? there is only one block in Detroit to be, they need to put a wall around it!!!!!!

Take my advise, get on 94, keep going north till it almost ends, in Port Huron, get on the bridge to Canada, the casino is right across the river, so easy to find, it's so safe, there isn't even smoking aloud in there.
Try looking for a hotel in Troy . It is located right off I-75 and is a very nice area. Approx 20 min or so from the casinos and The Henry Ford it also has a fantastic mall right down the road. I live north of Troy ( and Detroit) so I reccommend it. Ummmmm you might want to think about bringing your birth certificate and going to Canada to gamble
If you going to Ford museum, you can stay locally either right across the street at Dearborn Inn (it is historical building, very traditional and was build by Henry Ford) or more contemporary Hyatt Regency Dearborn about mile away. Both are 4 starts hotels. . Pretty close to Downtown Detroit (about 12 miles). It is pretty safe area.

Oh yeah, if you will be in the area, stop at Eagle Tavern, one of the oldest functional restaurants. It is located inside of the Greenfield Village
