Moving to LANSING, MI....Should I or not? |
Travel Info I just recieved a job offer in Eaton County.... Lansing is about 30mins away... I'm trying to move to a town thats kinda close but I develop a social life and meet new people... Travel Tips Charlotte is the County Seat and is a real little Mayberry. It is an up and coming little town and is worth a look if you want to live down the street from Aunt Bea. Olivet is a tiny town, but since it has a college, the folks are interesting. If you're looking for a urban feel check out north Lansing. It is an older part of Lansing that didn't benifit from urban renewal in the 1960's; hence the building stock is vintage. Historically north Lansing had a lower economic status with the problems that brings: higher petty crime, downwardly mobile housing, industrial grunge. For the last ten yrs or so, north Lansing has become a bit of an artist community with a number of small cafes, coffee houses, art galleries, antique stores and what not. I think the local LGBT community calls the place home. While the neighborhood is still a bit dicey it does offer opportunity for someone who is new to the area. If I were to move back to Lansing, I'd look there. If you're a family guy, look in Dimondale for the Holt school system. If you want to drive a lot move to Okemos or East Lansing where the incomes ensures fancy neighbors. Source(s): grew up in Lansing. Other Travel Tips I live in Howell about 25 min from Lansing, I came here in Sept. from Warren. I love it here.E-mail and I can give you some more info if you like. The better question is what kind of crowd are you looking for? Michigan State is right there so its tons of people you can meet and have a good time with. But if you aren't interested in the college crowd, your options become shorter. MSU Grad |
