Travel Tips In Detroit there are a bunch of things an artist would find interesting. Heidleberg Project Detroit Institure of Arts Cranbrook Art Pewabic pottery Tom's Tavern on 7 mile just west of Wyoming Ave (the finest dive bar in the Western Hemisphere) henry ford museum (Abe Lincoln's chair, John Kenndey's limo, tom edison's laboratory) Jeeze o peets, folks, Detroit has its problems but there are a ton of cool things to see and do. Quit bashing Detroit and give the gal some advice on nice things to do. Since you are an artist, maybe you can find a little beauty in an otherwise pretty homely place. I am not running Detroit down. I know you Red Wing fans can get pretty nasty. But when the car companies pulled out, they left a desolate and forboding landscape. Although, city officials are trying to improve the situation. I deliver products to Detroit and one of the weirdest sights I have seen anywhere. There is a large steel company that has built themselves a state of the art bulding right smack in the middle of one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city. Unless they have changed a lot since I was there last, it resembled a polished high quality diamond placed in the center of a group of rocks and gravel. I wish it could become a city that all people in Michigan could be proud to call theirs. Sitting right on the Great Lake St.Clair, it could really be transformed into a beauty. The Detroit Art institute is very nice, regardless to what you might here about " Detroit " There is also a festival , i will ask my friend when it is ( i know it is summer ) but i have wanted to go and hear it is great. I94 east all the way to the end of it. We've got parks, lakes, beaches, state game area, artist's colony and a lot of support at Studio 1219 and Raven Coffeehouse, (I'll be there in the morning--mention yahoo answers) and boodles and boodles of other stuff for you to paint, draw or whatever your medium is. I'd tell you more but I'm a writer, not an artist. haha NOTHING. no im jk ..well not really but seriously it sucks theres nothing really to do ..downtown has some alot of casinos and good restruants and theres the DIA which is pretty sweet. make sure your not in detroit by urself its actually a bad area. if you go downtown youll be fine cuz theres lots of ppl there that arent bad but still go out with someone never by urslef |
