Detroit Public Transportation!? |
Travel Info I need to know which public transportation are in Detroit (subway, metro, bus) Travel Tips I asked a question like your over 9 months ago and here are the responses I received about mass transportation in Detroit. Source(s): http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;... Other Travel Tips There is a bus system. There is also an elevated train in the downtown area called the people mover. A lifetime in Detroit We have DDOT (Detroit Department of Transportation)is a bus services that services residents within city limits and Smart (SOmething) Bus service) that services folks taking care of business OUTSIDE of city limits. Detroit lacks effective public transportation. Due to the inability of the city and the suburbs to strike a meaningful operating agreement, there are two separate bus systems (one for the city and one for the suburbs). Most buses are run-down and are scheduled few and far between. I saw a previous poster mentioned the People Mover monorail system in the city center. It makes a small loop in central downtown and is not really helpful for commuting. Unfortunately, you need a car if you are in Detroit. The public transportation in Detroit has undergone recent restructuring and has changed dramatically in the past years. DDOT ridership has increase over 30 percent in the last year alone. The Downtown People Mover has seen its best year last year with over 2 million riders |
