The historic African-American community of Idlewild is in the eastern part of Lake County in west-central Michigan, north of Grand Rapids and south of Cadillac. It is a few miles east of Irons, Michigan. While its heyday was in the 1920s-1950s, it's making a comeback thanks to the movie (which was filmed somewhere else). I assume, because you're in the Detroit travel section, that you're looking for the town of Idlewild in Michigan, not cities with the same name in other states.
