Travel Info Is ok to add air to nitrogen filled tires? Travel Tips The benifit of the nitrogen filled tires decreases when you add air, but if you are fine with that, there's no problem. Others NO do not do that! "air" is over 70% nitrogen Huh? Why would it not be OK...air is over 78% nitrogen. And what's a nitrogen filled tire supposed to do that air filled tires cannot do? Can't be a fire supressant, cause the tire will burn outside along the hot roads anyway...and the outside air is more than 20% oxygen. Perhaps if you add some detail to your question, you'll get better answers. Physics and engineering degrees. Topping off with compressed air won't hurt, tire experts say, and the tire can be purged and refilled with nitrogen later. Since nitrogen is in the air it should be ok to add regular air to the tire. Probably mess up your gas milage though. Cheers. |
