Michigan Star Clipper? |
Travel Info Anyone know the area? Travel Tips Besides the website. Google Maps has a great shot of the inside. Read many reviews and double check the information before booking. I purchased one of their murder/mystery nights as an impromptu double birthday gift for my father and aunt last winter . We were very disappointed that they swapped out the murder/mystery for a murder/follies, which we didn't find out about until after the train had left the platform. If we had known how bad it would have been. Nothing could have stopped us from getting off the train and getting our money back. I don't know why they changed the line-up, since the follies were scheduled for later the same week. The meal was ok, but nothing to wow your socks off, but the way they served the meal was very clever. There were two diabetics in our group, so I arranged for the diabetic dessert option. When the regular dessert of chocolate mouse in a chocolate dipped waffle cone was served out came two diabetic fruit plates, and back they went just as promptly! The plates were heaped with the same sliced oranges they had been using to garnish both drinks and dinner plates with. This was way too much sugar for a good percentage of diabetics. I felt horrible about the botched birthday gift, even more so when I learned my aunt had been secretly wanting to do this for years. My suggestion is to double and triple check the entertainment on the night you go. Also if you have to make a dietary change make sure you know what it is ahead of time, so you can plan accordingly. Is this in reference to a hair cut?? Not recommended! I went on the Star Clipper a few years ago for a New Years murder mystery party, complete with 4course dinner. The food was OK, they nicely provided a vegetarian entree but it cost $125 a person for the evening. The train literally goes 1/4 mile down the road and then goes back and forth on that 1/4 mile for the next 4-5 hours. The bathrooms are cramped, you get stuck sitting with people you don't know, and the murder mystery was cheesey. Not worth the money by any means!! |
