Travel Info Where is a nice hotel to stay at, near the water, in Eastern Michigan? Travel Tips I live in Marine City, MI about 60 miles north of Detroit--right on the water-the St. Clair River which is about 15 minutes from Lake Huron (by car) great boating area, as is Algonac or St. Clair. Thomas Edison Inn in Port Huron is fabulous (you can find it online) and the big sailboat race is in July. Weekend of the 21st, from Port Huron to Mackinaw, lots to do and see-hundreds of sailboats. There is a little b & b in Marine City called the Heather House, very nice spot for antiques, quiet meals on the water, fishing, boating, sitting on the beach and freighter-watching. Good luck, hope you like it! Others Renisansse Center in Downtown Detroit is right on the river-but you won't want to swim there. Eastern MI is very large, that would be SouthEast MI...if you want to go north try East Tawas or Oscoda, those are both small cities on Lake Huron but very nice areas. |
