Do they show you a movie if your flying northwest non stop detroit-los angeles? Just wondering if I should pack my dvd player or not...

Pack your DVD player. Non-stop service between DTW and LAX is mostly on Airbus A320 and Boeing 757 planes, which Northwest does NOT equip to show movies. In fact, Northwest is known for lacking in-flight entertainment on most domestic flights.

As a rule of thumb, any NWA long haul flight that's international or that's on an A330 plane features at least a movie and audio entertainment. You can check the following website to see what selection(s) will be on your flight:
