Travel Info Who lives or visted south lyon in michagan?? Travel Tips I live in Brighton, MI- which is right next to South Lyon. Others I pass by it all the time when I am going "up North" i know south lyon!!! even was in the service with a guy from there!!!! not for me though!!! i like things more citified Theres nothing there. I was there today (my mom lives there). I graduated from SLH a looong time ago. I lived there from 1978 to 1999. S.L. has changed A LOT since 1978. Back then, the ONLY fast food place was the A&W (now Brown's root beer), it was a real drive in (where you could park and have the food delivered in a tray to your car window). In 1978 there were only 2 traffic lights in town and there was never any heavy traffic. Showerman's IGA (grocery store) was in what is now the post office, and it was the largest store in town. The DT&I railroad still had a track through town (where the rail trail is now) and there was a big hump to drive over where the tracks were. A Ford dealership was located in what is now the bus garage. The majority of voters were senior citizens and they kept the school taxes honest and low (no more). I'm glad I don't live in S.L. anymore. S.L. has really changed. The people are a lot less friendly. The shopping downtown hasn't improved much, if at all. One improvement is that there are a lot more restaurants in the area., S.L.'s narrow minded government leaders don't have the common sense to plan ahead for the growth of the community. Avoid living in S.L. if you can help it. |
