Why is Michigan a place where no one wants to go on vacation? |
Travel Info No one from California says "Let us go to Michigan and have fun in Michigan. Let us "see" wonderful Detroit". How come Michigan is the last place anyone wants to go to and visit? Travel Tips its a combination of things but mostly bad pr coupled with ineffective tourism campaigns for the state and metro detroit area. this is a great state-californians want our water but Canadians want to dump thier trash! Such is the life of our state-but if certain things happened maybe it would be better. Tons of seniors in FL know that Michigan is awesome. Thats why they come back here during hurricane season, LOL If we ran ads in california-we would get more skiers. Colorado is not the end all be all-we have tobagonning, sleding, ice hockey and skating among other things. (think i spelled them all right) mostly its a state of mind-when you hear bad things you keep them in your mind and you harp on them. sure we could use more racial harmony but what metro city couldnt? i hope this helps or at least enlightens a few people oh yeah-did i mention that Michiganians-Michiganders typically talk so horribly about themselves that no one else has to do it for them? When was the last time you heard a NY'er say out loud that they hated their city-you wont even if they do. Maybe one day we will learn that here. Did i mention that we have 5 great lakes, tons of metro parks, county parks and city/township/village parks. Did i mention that Belle Isle is bigger than Central Park in NY? Did I say too much or did others say too little? Others I see Detroit as a crime -infested city. The citizens of the city are even leaving as population has been declining year after year. In 1990, the population was 1.1 million by 2000 it was 1 million. By 2005 it was 900,000. Where do you think it is now? So, tell me.....what is there to do in Michigan? people want to vacation on the beach. the ocean is where its at. Muck Fichigan!!! I was in MIchigan and I hated it, no not really Im from Wisconsin and I go to Michigan regularly for men's hockey and it was just like being at home, but yeah I hear you no one is like OOOH lets go to Wisconsin, but do you blame them?? Because Cape Cod is within driving distance. The west side of the state is pretty, and upper michigan is great. Problem is, the main airport is just outside of Detroit, and you would have to fly, land and then drive so many hours to get to the good parts of Michigan.
