Where can you tailgate for the Detroit Tigers games near Comerica? |
Travel Info Anyone know of the parking garage behind left field if tailgating would be permitted on the top story? Travel Tips this info/news article is for lion's games but I believe pertains to any tailgating : The City of Detroit Municipal Parking Department reminds Detroit Lions fans that there will be limited tailgating for the August 9 football game at Ford Field, due to standard Saturday shopping hours at Eastern Market. A total of about 400 spaces will be allotted for tailgating festivities within the Eastern Market area bounded by Riopelle, Russell and Wilkins, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tailgating will be allowed four hours prior to a game and up to two hours following the game. Cost per tailgate space will be $30. Vehicles that require more than one parking space will be charged accordingly, including buses and other large recreational vehicles. Spaces cannot be purchased in advance for the August 9 game only. Reservations for all future games can be obtained by contacting the Municipal Parking Department at (313) 967-1629. The City of Detroit will provide security, maintenance and restroom accommodations. For additional convenience, a shuttle service will be available for fans to and from Ford Field every ten minutes beginning two hours prior to game time. Fare for the service is 50 cents each way. On Saturday, passengers will be able to board at the corner of Russell and Wilkins. Additional parking is also available beginning at 9 a.m on August 9 at the following Municipal Parking Department facilities: * Premier Parking Garage (1206 Woodward Ave.) * Greektown Garage (660 Macomb St.) * First and Bagley Garage (1731 First St.) * Grand Circus Park Garage (1600 Woodward Ave.) * Woodward Lots (Woodward and Sibley.) Others Comerica park is right downtown Detroit. Your best bet would be just to pay the 10-20 bucks parking in one of the parking lots or church parking lots and grill out next to your vehicle. Thats what we all do for the Tigers or Lions game. I think that's the Gem Theatre parking lot. On game days, you need a parking permit to get in there. Even with the permit, I think tailgating is a no no. Right across the street from the stadium. A lot of people were out there when I went two weeks ago. At the Eastern Market visit www.visitdetroit.com for specific info on this area and others near Comerica Park This site will also tell you what else is going on in the area on game day so that you have a good idea of how early you need to secure your spot-the eastern market is a hot spot especially on weekends and i believe it opens at 5 or 6 am but on the upside you can shop for fresh fruits and veggies and have a great and healthy breakfast. i hope this helps www.visitdetroit.com |
