I'm sorry about the loss of your uncle. Jackson is for the hard core big boys, and it is definitely not a picnic. I don't know much about Marquette. I hope the man that stole your peace and your family got a very long sentence.

You should be able to look at installation details, but I can tell you that what you see is not what it's really like. Inmates are a protected population, so research conducted on them and their facilities is not granted very often. When it is granted, then everyone is on their best behavior.

Try looking up episodes of "Lock Up" from MSNBC tv. They have documentaries on correctional facilities. Pretty good, but remember...they're on best behavior. I just did a prison tour with Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, AL, then I came home and watched the Lock Up episode on tv (they had just finished filming it 6 months prior to our tour). Totally different portrayal on tv!

My brother is in Jackson prison. he likes it cause the block he is in he has been in before and he knows a lot of the 'lifers' and guards.

He did not like Ionia state cause he said it had crappy food.
