Coming To Detroit Area...? |
Travel Info ...what are some good things to do for the 4th of July week with my 2 kids.I'm going to visit relatives but I want to get out & do some things with just me & my 8 & 5 year old.Any good suggestions? : ) Travel Tips There's a petting farm in Taylor that your 5 year old might enjoy. Also go-cart racing, miniature golf and water racing in Dearborn Heights and Woodhaven. You don't want to go downtown to the fireworks because it's dangerous with kids. Every year you hear about shooting. It's best to go to a suburban communitee. Almost all have them. I went to Grose Ile's last year and they were nice. The best fireworks in Michigan are the ones downriver. They have a big fest at Heritage Park in Taylor every year. There's a carnival, casino and other activities. I like those fireworks a lot better than Hart Plaza. They're just as good if not better. Except you don't have to worry about getting hurt because those Taylor police don't play. I don't know exactly where you're going but hopefully the links will help. If you kids like baseball, they'll enjoy themselves. Especially since the cats are doin real good this year. Go TIGERS!!!!! the fireworks are all over the area. usually the big ones are along the detroit river on july 4th and they are very nice!! but u can see smaller ones at any city that are sponsoring them during the week. try taking ur kids sightseeing and maybe to a game have fun!! Its a holiday weekend-get out of the house. Here are a few good resources-you wont have time to do everything in the short time that you are here. First find the city you will visit-most have websites and community centers that have swimming and other family activities-sometimes activities (especially nature specific ones are booked but give them a call-let them know you are visiting the area and wanted to know if they have space for 3 more go to the states website www.michigan.gov and there will be some ideas for you there go to the riverwalk site - some of the activities will be gone when you come. you will miss detroits big fireworks http://www.detroitriverdays.com/... www.visitdetroit.com is a great resource with a calendar that you can use to schedule events america online offers the city guide for detroit at www.aol.com and in your spare time check out the following places detroit institute of arts-although its under construction a mini golf course is out front on the lawn detroit zoo-open kangaroo exhibit and petting of girafees plus the wildebeasts are back belle isle-redesigned for the races which are heading back charles h wright musuem-history at work underground railroad-call to schedule a tour/see www.visitdetroit.com historic homes tour-call to schedule a tour/see www.visitdetroit.com i hope this helps Say it's not so. You're not only entering that abyss yourself for a week but taking two young children with you? That's the most dangerous city on earth. If you want to watch fireworks stay home and watch them on television. Stay inside and lock your doors. Then pray nothing bad happens. The fireworks are at Hart Plaza which is dowtown right across from the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building a.k.a city county building. Go to River Days which ends tomorrow. Go to Bell Isle ( Jefferson & Grand Bouelevard) |
