What is the real reason Detroit can't make it in the United States? |
Travel Info Detroit: 139 Sq miles. 850,000 People in the year 2007.... Year 1950: Over 2 million people. Why have over a million people left the city? Detroit has no Super Markets (Big Chains) No movie houses. No Amusments Parks, No city parks with equpiment to play/work with. Schools are run down. No tax base. ( Well, Very little Tax base) So why is Detroit like that in this United states? Travel Tips Fifty years ago Detroit was on its way to being the front-runner in every contest to have the most murders and greatest amount of violence of any city. Motor City had the highest-paying jobs and a solid market for sales, but another problem was rapidly gaining strength and as it grew and acted publicly, companies had to make radical adjustments to stay in business, but their planning for improvements lagged due to costs and inertia, at top and bottom. Market share was lost to foreign companies and production curtailed, making operating and production expenses effectively higher, yet the cost problem continued to grow, unabated. Personal living expenses were fairly high, because many people had high-paying jobs and could afford them, but this led to increased difficulties for the poor. The continuing escalation of costs affected everyone in a negative way, .. Eventually automation took over the jobs of many employees, which led to other actions and less production, which meant further losses and greater expenses to businesses. The unstoppable trend finally pushed businesses to the point where they could no longer exist in that environment and they either moved away or closed entirely. Violence continued, which worried a great many people, and it became different, as poverty spread, affecting more people, more often. Tourism, a monetary boon for any city, and a supporter of many jobs, plummeted due to fears of violence. The main items produced, automobiles and trucks, saw competition increase dramatically, as the public found imported products were superior in quality, and sold for less. Operating costs for manufacturers continued to escalate, even as their market share decreased and prices had to be raised, making their products less affordable. As companies cut back production, or closed, jobs disappeared, so money became scarce, and the high costs of land that landlords had taken on, with the expectation of realizing high rents, became unsupportable as people no longer had high incomes. When landlords could not make the mortgage payments, they were forced to sell property at losses. Many lost their entire investments and became bankrupt. There were fewer and fewer tenants available, and no real expectation of covering expenses, so new owners had no interest in the properties and the buildings became vacant, then derelict. With a decreasing population and growing poverty levels, people spent less and less, so small businesses could not afford their own expenses, and they closed, a great many due to bankruptcy. With growing unemployment, and continuing personal expenses, many people could no longer afford to live there, so they sold what they could or packed it up and departed, accelerating the decline of the city. Businesses that had suffered and moved or closed never re-opened or returned, so the downward movement continued to today's level. In comparing this to world affairs it may be seen that, with Islamic radicals, those at the highest levels remain safe and prosperous forever while their followers see gains for a time, but ultimately pay the ultimate price demanded by their safe and prosperous leaders. An example of this is in today's news, showing the principle leader/cleric in a Pakistani mosque in Pakistan that has been under siege after too much violence, was caught trying to escape after he saw the inevitable collapse of his efforts, and the probable destruction of all those around him. . With over 1000 followers and subordinates remaining inside the mosque after his departure, one presumes he told them to continue supporting the cause, with their death being almost certain if they did so, while he disguised himself in women's clothes in order to obtain his personal safety. Extending this comparison, it may be seen that those who led their great many followers to what became the downturn and fall of Detroit had little difficulty in maintaining their personal prosperous lives through the entire cycle, and then continued doing so afterwards. Others Are you talking about Detroit City Limits, or in the outer county? Alot of cities are in this same situation where people are fleeing to the suburbs. Metro Detroit is the most racially segregated area in the entire United States. Do research, you'll see that it's true. Livonia (a suburb of Detroit) is the whitest city in the entire United States.
